  1. Frequency: The rate at which a sound wave vibrates is known as its frequency, and it is expressed in Hertz (Hz). It establishes the pitch of the sound; higher frequencies are associated with higher pitches and lower frequencies with lower pitches.
  2. Amplitude: A sound wave’s amplitude, which is expressed in decibels (dB), reflects its size or intensity. It relates to the volume or loudness of the sound; sounds with larger amplitudes are considered louder than those with smaller amplitudes.
  3. Waveform: A sound signal’s waveform shows the sound wave’s shape over time. It can be seen as a graph that displays the amplitude variation over time. Waveform shapes vary depending on the type of sound source, and can include sine, square, or complex waveforms.
  4. Phase: The position of a point in a waveform cycle with respect to a reference point is referred to as its phase. It displays the temporal relationship between various sound signal components and is measured in degrees. In stereo or multi-channel audio systems in particular, phase is crucial to comprehending the interplay between various sound streams.
