What is an Opamp?
An Opamp, or operational amplifier, is a circuit capable of performing mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, integration, and differentiation.

The operational amplifier’s block diagram is shown below. Take note that the opamp is in a multistage amplifier. The stages are as follows: the differential amplifier input stage, the high gain CE amplifier, and the output stage. The Differential Amplifier is the primary component in this block diagram. The Differential Amplifier accepts two input signals and amplifies the difference between them.
Some important points of Operational Amplifier –
- The input stage of operational amplifier is the differential amplifier.
- The Internal stage of this circuit is directly coupled.
- It has very high input impedance
- And very low output impedance.
- Op-amp has very high open loop voltage gain (more than 2,00,000).
- Op-amp always operates on negative feedback operation.
- It can amplify both d.c. and a.c. signal.
Applications of Operational Amplifier
Below we listed some uses of Opamp –
- Used in Amplifier circuit for signal amplification.
- Used in many king signal filter circuit.
- Used in instrumentation amplifiers.
- Also used in Comparators, Oscillators, and Signal Conditioner Circuits.
