In this article, we discuss What is the electrical drive? Its block diagram, parts, and benefits also. Poly Notes Hub shares these notes with the diploma engineering students.
It is a type of system used to control an electrical machine’s motion. In other words, we can say, that the drive that is used by the electric motor is called the electrical drive. The electrical drive uses any prime movers like diesel or petrol engines, steam engines, hydraulic motors, etc. The prime movers supply the mechanical energy to the drive for motion control.
Block diagram of Electrical Drive
Below is the block diagram of the system which has the different sections or parts to perform a motor control task.
The requirement of power modular is to regulate the output power of the source. The power modulator controls the power from the source of the motor in such a way that the motor transmits the speed vs torque characteristics by the load. It also converts the energy according to the requirement of the motor which is used.
For Example: If the source is DC and we are using induction motor then the power modulator converts the DC source to AC source.
Control Unit
This section is used to control and operate the power modulator at the small voltage and power level. It also generates the commands which are used to protect the power modulator and motor.
