What is ASK or Amplitude Shift Keying Modulation Technique?
Amplitude Shift Keying or ASK is a form of digital communication technique is which digital data is represented as variations in the amplitude of the carrier signal.
Advantages of ASK Modulation
ASK is a simple kind of modulation that can be used to send data through a channel.
Disadvantages of ASK Modulation
It can be used only when the signal-to-noise ratio is very high because most of the signal is transmitted at reduced power, so it would be hard to recover.
It is needed A/D Converters working at a frequency that could be higher than necessary.

Here in this picture we have shown both of the block diagram – Generation of ASK Signal and Coherent Detection of ASK Signal –
ASK signal is basically the product of a binary sequence and the carrier signal. ASK signal is generated by applying the incoming binary data and a sinusoidal carrier of two inputs of a product modulator or balanced modulator. The block diagram of ASK Generator or Modulator is shown in the above diagram or picture.
Block Diagram of Coherent Detection of ASK Signal
Detection of ASK wave can be done with the help of a coherent detector, which is shown in the above picture. It consists of a product modulator, which is followed by an integrator and a decision-making device. ASK signal is applied to one input of the product modulator, and the other input of the product modulator is supplied with a sinusoidal carrier signal, which is generated by a local oscillator.
Then the output of the product modulator goes to the integrator. The integrator performs a low-pass filtering action. The output of the integration goes to the decision-making device. Now, it decides in favour of symbol 1 if the threshold is exceeded and symbol 0 otherwise.
