What is Short Run Production Function?

A Short Run Production Function is the relationship between the quantity of inputs (such as labour and capital) and the quantity of output generated in the short run, given a constant degree of technology. In the short run, at least one input is constant, while the others can change. This indicates that, while some inputs, like as capital, are difficult to change in the near term, others, such as labour, can be adjusted to shift output levels. The short run production function assists firms in understanding how changes in inputs affect output in the short term, enabling them to make resource allocation and production level decisions.

Features of Short Run Production Function

The features of SRPF are:

1. Fixed Inputs: In the short run, at least one input (typically capital or machinery) remains fixed and cannot be adjusted. This constraint distinguishes the short run from the long run, where all inputs can be varied.
