The order of a matrix refers to its dimensions, represented as rows × columns. To find the order of matrix, follow these steps –

Steps to Determine the Order of the Matrix

• Count the Number of Rows (horizontal lines of elements).
• Count the Number of Columns (vertical lines of elements).
• Express the Order as

Number of Rows × Number of Columns

Example

Consider the matrix

Here;

• Number of rows = 2
• Number of columns = 3
• Order of the matrix = 2 × 3 (read as “2 by 3”)
