Different Types of Lamp Holders in Electrical Wiring | New Topic
In this note, we are going to know about different types of lamp holders that are used in electrical wiring. Welcome to Poly Notes Hub, a leading destination for engineering notes for diploma and degree engineering students.
Here we have listed several types of lamp holders used in electrical wiring.
Bayonet Cap Lamp Holder: This is the most popular lamp holder in Indian households. It is intended to accommodate bulbs with a bayonet cap base (B22). The bulb is inserted and twisted to seal it in place. It offers a secure connection and is appropriate for general-purpose illumination.
Pendent Holder: A pendant holder hangs from the ceiling by a flexible wire or rod. It is mostly used as decorative lighting, such as over dining tables or hallways, and provides downward-focused illumination.
Batten Lamp Holder: Batten holders are mounted directly to walls or ceilings, with no hanging cable. They are tiny and excellent for spaces with low ceilings. Typically used in toilets, storerooms, and staircases.
Angel Holder: This holder is created with an angled form to direct light in a specified direction. It is excellent in areas where precise lighting is required, such as corners or beneath cabinets.
Bracket Holder: Bracket holders are fastened on a bracket that is typically fixed to the wall. They are frequently used as bedroom lights or wall illumination in hallways and verandas.
Tube Light Holder: These holders are designed specifically for fluorescent tube lights (T5 or T8 varieties). They are installed at both ends of the tube to keep it in place while also supplying the necessary electrical connections.
Screw Type Edison Lamp Holder: This type is compatible with screw-base bulbs such as E27 and E14 (Edison screw). The bulb is screwed into the holder, which provides both mechanical support and an electrical connection. Common in imported and new LED lighting.
Goliath Edison Screw (GES) Holder: These are larger than typical Edison screw holders and used for high-wattage industrial or studio lighting. The GES bulb base (E39 or E40) is screwed into the holder for a secure fit.
Swivel Lamp Holder: Swivel holders have a pivot mechanism that allows the lamp to be adjusted in various directions. They are suited for applications that require changeable directed lighting, such as display lighting and reading lamps.
