About Direct Coupled Amplifier
Many applications require extremely low-frequency signals to be amplified, such as amplifying photoelectric current, thermocouple current, and so on. Coupling devices such as capacitors and transformers are ineffective because their electrical sizes increase dramatically at extremely low frequencies. In such cases, one stage is directly connected to the following step, with no intervening coupling device. This sort of coupling is referred to as direct coupling.
Direct Coupled Amplifier Circuit Diagram
Figure displays the circuit of a three-stage direct-coupled amplifier. It employs a complementary transistor. Thus, the first stage employs a NPN transistor, the second a PNP transistor, and so on. This arrangement makes the design quite easy.
Working of Direct Coupled Amplifier
The output from the collector of first transistor T1 is fed to the input of the second transistor T2 and so on.
The weak signals is applied to the input of first transistor T1. Due to transistor action, an amplified output is obtained across the collector load RC of transistor T1. This voltage drives the base of the second transistor and amplified output is obtained across its collector load. In this way, direct-coupled amplifier raises the strength of weak signal.
Advantages of Direct Coupled Amplifier
Here are some merits of this type of amplifier –
- The circuit design is very simple.
- The circuit has low cost.
Disadvantages of Direct Coupled Amplifier
Here are some demerits of this type of amplifier –
- This circuit cannot be used for amplification of high frequency.
- The operating point may be shifted due to temperature variations.
Application of Direct Coupled Amplifier
Here are some uses of this type of amplifier –
- Used in ECG and EEG medical mechines.
- Used in Analog computers.
- Used in Audio Amplifiers and Control Systems.
This is a very bad design as two of the transistors only have junctions between the positive and negative rails
I like what you guys are up too. Such smart work and reporting! Keep up the excellent works guys I have incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it’ll improve the value of my web site :).
Thank you for sharing excellent informations. Your web site is very cool. I’m impressed by the details that you’ve on this site. It reveals how nicely you understand this subject. Bookmarked this website page, will come back for extra articles. You, my pal, ROCK! I found just the info I already searched all over the place and simply couldn’t come across. What an ideal web site.
Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this. Additionally, the blog loads super fast for me on Opera. Excellent Blog!
It’s really a cool and helpful piece of info. I am glad that you shared this helpful info with us. Please keep us informed like this. Thanks for sharing.
My husband and i felt now relieved Albert could deal with his analysis through the entire ideas he discovered in your blog. It is now and again perplexing to just choose to be offering guidelines which usually the rest might have been selling. So we fully grasp we have got the writer to give thanks to for this. All the explanations you’ve made, the easy blog menu, the friendships you will aid to foster – it’s many excellent, and it’s really leading our son and the family consider that this matter is awesome, and that is pretty important. Thanks for the whole thing!
Heya i’m for the primary time here. I came across this board and I in finding It really helpful & it helped me out much. I am hoping to present one thing back and aid others like you aided me.
I was recommended this blog by means of my cousin. I am not positive whether this post is written via him as nobody else know such designated about my trouble. You’re wonderful! Thanks!
I’ll immediately grab your rss as I can not find your email subscription link or newsletter service. Do you have any? Kindly let me know in order that I could subscribe. Thanks.

Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for inexperienced blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
I’m still learning from you, as I’m trying to achieve my goals. I certainly liked reading everything that is written on your blog.Keep the information coming. I enjoyed it!
Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a really well written article. I’ll make sure to bookmark it and return to read more of your useful info. Thanks for the post. I’ll certainly return.
Hi, Neat post. There is a problem with your site in internet explorer, would check this… IE still is the market leader and a huge portion of people will miss your excellent writing because of this problem.
