What is Goniophotometer?
It is a device used to measure the light emitted by a light source in different directions. It is critical in photometry to describe the angular distribution of light, which is required to understand how light is distributed or directed by a luminaire (light fixture).
Types of Goniophotometer
There are three types of gonio photo meter –
- Type A: It is measures luminous intensity which is distribution in a single plane.
- Type B: Measures in two planes, which are commonly employed in vehicle and roadway lighting.
- Type C: The most popular form, measuring in many planes, is frequently used for general lighting.
Applications of Gonio Photometer
Here are some uses of this type of photometer –
- Used for designing and optimizing lighting in buildings, streets, and vehicles.
- Ensures that lighting products meet all regulatory and safety requirements.
- Used in laboratories to investigate light behavior and qualities.
