What is Engineering Mechanics?
Engineering Mechanics is the branch of applied science which explores the behavior of bodies in the presence of forces. It applies physics and mathematics ideas to assist engineers in the analysis and design of structures, machines, and systems.
Types of Engineering Mechanics
There are two types of engineering mechanics –
- Statics – The study of bodies at rest or in equilibrium under the action of forces.
- Dynamics – The study of bodies in motion. Dynamics is further divided into:
- Kinematics – Study of motion without considering forces.
- Kinetics – Study of motion considering the forces causing it.
