What is Rod Gap Arrester?
It is a device that protects electrical power networks from overvoltage circumstances, notably those produced by lightning strikes. It comprises two metal rods that are parallel and separated by a small air space. When a high voltage surge, such as that caused by lightning, occurs, the air between the rods breaks down and carries the surge to the ground, safeguarding the equipment downstream. These are a simple and effective type of surge prevention widely utilized in substations and other high-voltage applications.
Construction of Rod Gap Arrester
